Adoption Support Agency of Registered Therapists

The Counselling

What happens at the first meeting with an ASART therapist?

People talk with the therapist about what they feel they need.

The therapist will then say if she thinks she can help and if so give an idea of how she might do that. Financial arrangements will then be discussed. Fees for work with individuals and couples vary between therapists. Funding for ASART services may be available from the relevant local authority for parents with placed or adopted children under the age of eighteen.

A series of appointments will be planned if you wish. Once therapy is agreed ASART clients are provided with a contract which outlines the terms for working with an ASART therapist, including confidentiality.

Some ASART therapists may be able to travel to your area for group or family sessions.

Some of our therapists offer telephone or e-mail counselling.
